Sonam Urges PM Modi To Stand Up For Bhansali In The Jaipur Attack
Bollywood is supporting Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but Sonam Kapoor has gone a step ahead and has sent out a ‘gentle reminder’ to PM Narendra Modi. What does it say, read on...
Sonam Kapoor is once such person who always voices her opinion on matters affecting the society or the industry she is a part of.
As the entire Bollywood is shaken up by what happened with the ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Jaipur, Sonam has posted an old tweet of PM Narendra Modi where he has spoken about art having no boundaries, and said it’s a gentle reminder for him to stand up for the industry now.
She writes, “A gentle reminder sir... a couple of days after Republic Day if we as an industry have to deal with such humiliation for expressing ourselves, it's frankly very disheartening . Please stand up for us.. #padmavati
PM Narendra Modi had posted this tweet on February 13, 2016, which read, 'Art can’t have any restrictions or limits.'
For those who have come in late, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was suddenly attacked by a violent mob, screaming slogans of “Karni Sena”, while he was shooting Padmavati in Jaipur.
The Padmavati crew had erected a huge set at Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur, where a number of important scenes of the film were to be shot. The stage was set and the cameras were ready to roll. However, the moment Karni Sena activists got a whiff of the matter, they landed on the set and began damaging it. Reason? Distortion of historical facts, they say. While his team tried to protect SLB, a blow landed straight on the cowering, unarmed, filmmaker.
While celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt among others have expressed their anger on social media, Sonam is urged for an action from PM Modi on this matter.
Let’s wait to see if PM Narendra Modi replies to her gentle reminder and takes some action. We bet Sonam is eagerly waiting for that.
